We recently picked up two of these (vintage 2002) in our last order from SHWC at the same price. Popped the first tonight. It gave a slightly different appearance. Showed medium purple with a strong hint of pink to the eye. Gave us cherries and red raspberries on the nose and upfront. Almost spritzy, with mild earth, smooth tannin, and much delight across the palate, and a lovely finish. Matched with mesquite gilled pork chops that had been covered with OO, and Penseys Pork Chop Seasoning on one side and Bay Leaf Seasoning on the other; and salad. Mother insisted on getting some leftover applesauce out of the fridge! So, had half of the PC with the AS, and the other half with the pinot. Was able to just sip the rest afterward. Very, very nice.

The reason why there was applesauce in the fridge is that a daughter had insisted on it during a recent visit. Why is it that when you have guests over for dinner, they eat or reject what you serve; but when you have family they demand things.
