2005 Neil Ellis, Sauvignon Blanc, Stellenbosch ($14.99 SHWC). Tech data: Alcohol 13%, Residual sugar 2.5 g/litre, TA 6.8 g/litre, pH 3.35. It is a very well balanced wine with grapes from multiple vineyards. We bought a half box last year as a summer wine. We ended up drinking mostly red wines last summer, so only popped one bottle of this one and couldn’t find a post on it.

It gives you tropical fruit on the nose and upfront. There is more fruit with herbaceous overtones, and nice acid in the middle. It finished well. We matched it with baked crab and shrimp cakes, rolls, and peas. It all went together very well.

I was afraid it might be getting a little old, but it is aging very nicely.
