I think I'm falling in love with Sauvignon Blanc, and the NZ versions I've been trying are marvellous. Tonight I broke open my bottle of Cloudy Bay 2002 SB, and I was really blown away. The color was a typical straw-yellow, but the aroma made me realize immediately that this was no ordinary SB. I quickly picked up aromas of gooseberries, ripe melons, limes, and kiwis, but I couldn't place another aroma at first. It drove me crazy for nearly twenty minutes, and then it hit me: lychees! The flavor presented limes, kiwis, grapefruit, and--in retrospect--lychees as well.

I have read TNs in which lychee is detected in Rieslings, but I haven't run across this regarding SB. Anyone else detect lychees in SB? The aroma was so good, I spent as much time sniffing as I did tasting!
