Superiore should refer mainly to alchol content...
minimum 12% vol. (for Chianti is 11.5%)

(Anyway other differences are:
max yeld 75 q./ha for Superiore against 90 q./ha for basic
...and obviously minimum grapes alchol level 11% Superiore against 10.5% basic)
