The reason to buy pre-arrival is to lock in the price and availability. I don't do it often but have sometimes on Bordeaux futures and Sauternes dessert wines. I too have heard good things about 2001 Brunellos. Several from Banfi got good reviews in "Wine Enthusiast." In fact the most recent issue reviewed a large number of 2003 Brunellos so you might want to try to get hold of that issue and read for descriptions if not ratings. (The descriptions may let you know if it is your type of wine or not).
