In my ongoing investigation of Aglianico, I picked this up from a shop near my apartment. The very nice sales lady, who I like but disagree with on wine a lot, told me she wouldn't recommend it because it's "VERY dusty." I bought one immediately.

Well, she was somewhat right. A deep violet in the glass, with red berryish fruit and funk on the nose. Palate is medium bodied, quite funky and dirty tasting, with a somewhat bitter finish and a few too many tannins. The fruit seemed rather hidden in all that. I've let the second half of the bottle sit for a while with Private Preserve and maybe something will have developed when I get home tonight. The sales lady was perhaps right about this one.

$9, 13% alc., IGT from Basilicata.
