Brian Loring was kind enough to contact me and actually send me two bottles of his wines - the 2000 Gary's Vineyard and the 2000 Clos Pepe - as well as a bottle of Merry Edwards' Klopp Ranch. They were, as many of you said, stunning. They were warm, complex, artful, gracious, and warmly appealing in a way the Oregons seldom have seemed to me and the Burgundians, almost never. While I still probably won't abandon my Cab and Barolo, I can clearly see the appeal of these wines and can certainly talk them and sell them far better than I could two weeks ago. For that, I thank Brian Loring publicly. That said, my fiancee has now tried her first Pinots and is totally in Love with them. ARRRRRGH! I'm gonna be up to my neck in Pinot FOREVER! Brian, what have you done to me????!!!!!???
