Sarah,

There are several excellent wine shops in Washington (Calvert Woodley comes to mind). I suggest you take the metro and talk to one of their resident wine experts about your ideas and see what their recommendations might be. You should also mention what your budget is so they'll have an idea what to suggest.

Just a quick question. Do you actually live in DC or Reston?
