Volnay premier cru 1998

Hello,

New to the board. I've got a bottle of Volnay premier Cru 1998 which I bought at the end of one of my very first wine tastings. I tried to spit and not drink and everything but it all got a little bit out of hand and the rather ruthless lady in the cellar (I was on a bit of a road trip in Burgundy) encouraged me to buy it.

I remember very little about what she said (i.e. should I drink it now/in a few years) and frankly I spent a fair whack on it (probably more than I should have done - she was very skilled) and I generally don't want to waste it as I do remember it being rather nice (although it was towards the end of the tasting...)

Any thoughts?

The maker or dealer is, I believe, Patriarche Pere & Fils which I've heard differing reports about - just ended up there with a Sunday afternoon to kill in Beaune and very little local knowledge.
