Carole was off to an all girls Xmas party tonight, so I watched Sum of All Fears, grilled up a NY strip and pulled a couple of suspects for pairing with the steak.

The 92 Dunn Napa Valley is still full of lovely fruit but the tannins are as sharp as ever. Guess who will win out in the end? The word balance came to mind.

The 93 Montelena was more to my liking. While the tannins are obvious, they are much more rounded and easy to deal with. The fruit is not as lush as the Dunn, but tends to be more complex and enjoyable.

Guess which bottle was drained..... now, the Bowl onslaught awaits. Go OU! The Big 12 in the Rose Bowl? The times be a changin'.......
