Had a nice couple over yesteday and we got our nose in the vinegar. 1991 Burgess Nintage Selection. One of the underappreciated wineries in Napa, Tom has managed to produce exceptional wines most every vintage and to keep the pricing reasonable, even low and this vintage was typical. A blend of mountain cabernet 78%, 12% merlot, and 10% cab franc, this wine is a lovely finished product.91/93. 19 by the box. 13% alc. 1991 Caymus Napa.Another great wine from this outstanding vintage.Deep ruby, no bricking, loaded with brite cherry and deep plum fruit. Sweet spices, and a touch of earth make this one of the best Napa bottlings of the 90s IMHO. Has been drinking great since release. Only the aromatics have improved. 93/95. 19 by the case. 13% alc. 1996 St. Clement Oroppas. One of Dennis Johns' better efforts. Loads of fruit with a nice shot of vanilla, cardamon, violets, and cocoa. Young with another 2-3 to soften the tannins. Solid center and a 4-lapper finish. % of blend unknown. 90/88. 39 at the winery. 13% alc.WW
