Sarah...You may have problems for several reasons. Wineries receive so many requests for charitable donations that they could literally give away away their entire production.

So they tend to give to groups that are really into promoting wine in some way rather than just "needing" some wine.

Further, all the negative publicity surrounding campus drinking, frats going dry, university's banning adult beverages outright, banning advertising in student publications and with rabid anti-alcohol groups insisting that wine, beer and spirits producers are trying to encourage young people to corrupt themselves with evil alcohol...producers are going to be especially shy.

What you may be able to find is wineries willing to sell to you at f.o.b. (basically wholesale wholesale..or the price they charge their wholesalers)...which amounts to roughly 50% off retail.

In California, to be able to make such a purchase, and/or to provide wine as part of your fund raising event, you must purchase (cheap) a one-day wine license from the state Dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
