Happy Memorial Day Everyone

Happy Memorial Day to all. My Dad is a WWII vet and -- thank god -- still with us at 87. My nephew is in the army and headed to Afghanistan in July. He survived one tour of duty with no ill effects. He's stationed in Germany now and is a brand-new father -- first baby. He'll be deployed 9 months at least. I'll be holding my breath 'til next Memorial Day and I'll celebrate when this pointless war is finally over.

My nephew in the service was initially very idealistic, wanting to help the Afghan people, etc. After being there a year, he now says that for every Taliban we kill, there are three more younger family members who hate us for killing their uncle or whoever and are eager to take his place. It's just a bottomless pit. We are only making more enemies. The people spit on our soldiers and want us out. I say let's accommodate them!

But that's just my opinion.
