Many outstanding wines came out of France in 1961, only problem being the price of most of them is now in the stratus-sphere! If your girlfriend likes ports, then IK's recommendation is a bargan for the price. If however she would prefer a top notch wine from France, then let me know, and I will try to hook you up. One example in your price range is a 61' Chateaneuf-du-pape, of which I know who recently purchased the last two remaining cases directly from Wildmans last year. One bottle remains for sale at retail, for $349. If you are interested in this one, or can give me a better idea of what wines your girlfriend likes to drink most, e-mail me and let me know.
