Welcome to the board Rota. My reviews of the Haier 34-btl and the EuroCave 260 1-temp are scattered around in this same thread. You'll also see comments on the performance of my old storm cellar, before and after chilling with an industrial refrigeration unit.
Sounds like your Haier is working just fine. The difference in temperature, top to bottom, is caused by the positioning of the air vents and compressor, and actually works to your advantage in storing reds, whites and champers. I get a similar result with my 34-btl unit; but I also get a +/- 5 degree variance in temp about the set value. I don't like that kind of variation for long-term storage, so that unit has assumed reserve duty; the good stuff goes into the cellar or the EuroCave. Suggest you check yours for temperature swings of that type.
