Look down this same thread for the past 3-4 years and you'll get some ideas on the differences between "regular refrigerators" and wine fridges. In a nutshell, the regular fridge is designed to keep food in a narrow cold range for preservation. Don't recall exactly what that range is, but it's cold, in the 34-42F range somewhere. A wine fridge is only designed to cool to the range of 55-60F. It's not possible to set a regular fridge's thermostat that high without modification. Also, you'll find that a regular fridge maintains a very low humidity, whereas a wine fridge ideally would hold RH in the 60-70% range.
