2005 Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Merlot

85% Merlot and 15% Carmenere.
Eileen and I haven't seen much of each other lately due to our work schedules so we were both off last Friday and I decided to make Osso Buco for her. This wine is her favorite merlot and, in an attempt to woo my fair maiden, I served this wine with the Osso Buco, which she's never had, with gremalota and saffron risotto. The wine paired beautifully. Very dark purple with cassis, dark fruit flavors, dark cherry and a touch of chocolate. The wine finishes long with plenty of fine grained tannins that should allow aging for some years. Very nice late afternoon meal with my sweetie. 14.5% Alc/vol. $22
