Well, I'm outta here for a three-day weekend in SF. It is ZAP time again, so I am already puckered up and raring to taste my way through 180 booths -- a "power pucker." I'll be sure to post notes on what I find to be the best of the 99 lots.

Geez, some people get to have all the fun! How do I find a job like that?

Well, ZAP was disappointing this year. Nothing blew me away. The 1999s are better than 1998s, still short of the nice 97s. Bummer. Had great meals at Chez Panisse and R&G Lounge.

Dernit Bucko, sorry the zins weren`t better, and sorrier I didn`t tell you about one of the great SF dining experiences. The Crustacion on Polk is Mrs. An`s wunnerful spot. Her steamed spicy crab and her garlic noodles may be the greatest of these 2 varietals I`ve encountered. Sorry. WW

R&G Lounge is in Chinatown -- one of the people with us was Chinese, spoke the language and ordered the meal -- great experience.
