Well much to the chagrin of many, we survived a 7.0 earthquake an hour ago. ;-) Pretty darn scary for us WA types. The epicenter was just a few miles south of us. We have no obvious structural damage, but lots of glass and picture breakage, TVs in the floor, pantry dumped out, books everywhere, etc. Amazingly, only one broken bottle of wine (whew!).

My wife was just getting ready to leave for SEATAC airport to fly to Las Vegas for a medical meeting -- the airport is closed and diverting traffic. Scratch one meeting.

Well, it is past noon -- time to pull a cork.......

Glad to hear that your damage assessment wasn't any greater, Bucko. Hope your estimate holds true - and that the lost bottle of wine was heavily-oaked CA Chardonnay!

Just about as bad -- a sample bottle of CA Sauvignon Blanc.

Things are tough for travelers here. SEATAC airport is closed for at least a day, the ferries are down, and many rail lines are blocked due to landslides.

They have now downgraded it to a 6.8 quake, the worst since 1949.

Glad you and yours are OK. Just tell the winery the SB was a little grassy and oaky.

I'll have a martini -- shaken, not stirred.

Whew! Buckster, I tried for 3 hours to get thru to my friends in Seattle and then the news came that no fatalities, minimul damage( For the Size of the Shakin' goin' on) and good news generally. Glad all of the important wines in your employ (REDS) were unscathed. Can you imagine CCKs' reaction to missin' all this fun? God protects the Innocent, Frail, Children and old Coots that don' warrant any action. WW

Thanks RAD, Foodie -- we had a 3.4 aftershock in the wee hours this morning. I had to laugh when I read the paper this morning and it said in a subheading "The Science - No Aftershocks Likely."

Glad you & yours are well Bucko, & hoping that the "after noon" after-shock soothing bottle was a good 'un! I lived in the Bay Area during the '89 World Series quake, so I know the feelin' of a whole lotta shakin'... interesting, but not desirable. cp

That 89 quake was pretty devastating. Thankfully we did not have that level of destruction.
