Haven't quit drink', just not had anything new. A Sancerre last night with chicken, spinach and garlic (yumsville!), forgot what it was the night before. Leftovers tonight with another bottle of Sancerre, then oak-grilled buggers tomorrow night with Sin Zin. Life is tough.

I'm excited over this Sancerre stuff. What's an average bottle cost? Any favorites? The fella in the upscale wine shop near us has quite a few to choose from, but I'm always a little afraid of his prices.WW..same here..haven't had anything too interesting lately. Kind of finishing up what's hanging around the house...it's been so horribly hot I haven't wanted to buy too much.

Sancerre runs $14-$18 here. Costco has the lowest prices (as usual), with the higher price point favored by the independent retailers.

Georgie, I have had lots of nice Sancerre from various producers including Fournier, Jolivet, Reverdy, Salomon, Patient Cottat, Lucien Crochet but my favorites (and these tend to be more expensive) are from Pascal Cotat and Francois Cotat. (Francois Cotat also produces a very nice Sancerre rose' or rouge from Pinot Noir grapes. Usually I tend to prefer his style over that of Pascal Cotat but there are exceptions). 2002 was a good year. 2003 vintage may be atypical because of the hot European summer.
