Pretty much a dud..... we judged 196 Pinot Noirs and only gave 4 gold medals, and those were argumentative. None I have to rush out and buy for sure.

In today's Sacramento Bee, the wine writer mentioned that after tasting for the fair, it is obvious that there are far too many grapes right now and rather than letting them die on the vine, he's noticed that the growers who have not previously made their own wine are doing just that with the surplus. He didn't have a glowing review either for the most part...

Sore spitter... better not say that 30 times real fast.

Actually 196 wines in a day is not overkill. It is more of a mental exercise than a palate exercise. It is hard to stay focused, so walk breaks help.

What sucked was the 107 degree temps! This Seattle sissy just melted away.....
