too bad you're not on the East Coast, Duane. We have a fall festival in New England ( specifically Mass.) called King Richard's Faire. It is complete with the King and Court, period music, jousting, etc., food and drink(alcoholic and non). Visitors are welcome and encouraged to dress in costume. When I visit I have a complete outfit, including sword! Last year I got to sit with a 10 foot snake ( snake visit funds raised were for charity).

I had made it an annual outing to attend the PA Renaissance Faire held each summer at the Mt. Hope Winery Estate. One very hot summer day a few years ago, however, upon going to the fair, I found they had included elephant and camel rides as part of the festivities. You really just can't imagine the stench. That ended my Renaissance Faire days.
Mt. Hope, does, however, offer some other wonderful events, such as Poe Evermore, and a Dickens Christmas. Very talented actors and performers...a nice wine shop to browse and wines to taste. It's a nice place, really.

Mt Hope (actually from the Erie Appellation) keeps the tasting room and wine sales open, even when the Faire has no other activities going on. Pretty decent stuff.
