Now we lose Herbie Mann. The man who single-handedly transformed the flute from loser to lustrous. Innovative, inventive, and an absolute master of his instrument. Any serious young musician should study his work habits. Could learn more in 5 minutes than 10 years playing C, F, and G chords. Wish I'da turned him onto wine.WW

Oh MAN! I love Herbie and play five or six of his records in the store CONSTANTLY....

Verne, did you hear George Wien (jazz pianist and founder of the Newport and New Orleans Jazz Festivals) on "Fresh Air" on NPR last night? It was fascinating, he talked about financial showdowns with Miles, being on the road with Monk, Duke's amazing Newport set that just wouldn't stop, Dylan getting booed for going electric...

You'll be glad to know that we do a major Champagne tasting every year to fund music education in the schools.

Roberto

Congrars Robo on helping the chillins'. Missed Georges' gig and wish I hadn't. I'll check with KJZZ our local PRS and see if they have plans on re-running it. They do this quite often Happy Firecracker Bub! Verne
