Roberto, I'm going to be in LA for Thanksgiving and I'm pretty excited about paying a visit...any chance you'll be in the store the day after T-day?

Normally that is my first day off in ten days as I am in the store ON T-day but that may change this year (we WILL be open on T-day). I will keep you posted....

OK, great, I'd love to meet you. I'd come on T-day but my plane doesn't land till 3pm, and I assume you'll be closing by then...day after I'd have to come in the morning, as we're doing our feasting later that day.

Roberto! Why do you frown when talking to a nice guy from Brooklyn?

Excellent! Turns out plans have changed and I'll also be around Saturday morning. But Friday will still work as well...I'll call you then. Have a happy thanksgiving!

Well, I'm back and had a great time overall. WineExpo was a clear highlight. I wandered the isles in a slight daze for a while, taking delight in the fact that I recognized almost none of the labels. That hasn't happened since the first time I went to is-wine. Great fun. Finally I gave up and asked Roberto to pick out a case for me. Made sure to get some of Enzo Mecella's Rosso Piceno and a bottle of Pagor Tempranillo. Can't wait till the box arrives.

For those who haven't met Roberto, he's just as you might imagine. Energetic and speaks like he writes (I heard him ranting to another customer about silly high-scorers). Signs throughout the shop with text similar to the flyers entertained my wife for the entire length of my browsing! Miraculous!

It was a pleasure, Roberto.
