CCK - Speaking of new, small wineries in WA, do you know of Alexandria Nicole?

Funny you should ask, as I am currently drinking my wine out of a "Destiny Ridge" wine glass (Jarrod's vineyard) from last summer's "A Night Out" event! (good stems are packed.)
"Night Out" is a yearly event they host on their property to raise money for the local hospital. Tons of local wine folks at the event, like a who's who of the Valley. (Am guessing very few but Bucko know about this event.) <http://www.pphdwa.org/night_out/a_night_out_2003.htm>

I have yet to try the wines-- I know, I'm behind here. I am looking forward to going to their new cafe as it is down the street from my new digs and I belive, just opened. I understand they are working on building a place near Hogue and Chinook. Will of course get you more info when I get back over there.
BTW- How do you know about them?

Also, the event this year is on August 28.
"A Night Out" is an auction, golf games, wine tasting and steak/lobster dinner. Very fun!

Well, a few weeks ago, a lady came into the shop and wanted to know if we had any really good WA wines - we don't have much. We got to talking about the state of such things while she was shopping for a few CA Cabs to take over to her relatives' home near the shop. Turns out she's Hope Moore from Alexandria Nicole and she said I should try her wines, so I said to send me some and I will. Got an email from her last week that she was having Jarrod Boyle send me out a bottle each of their Viognier and Syrah.

BTW- Plan on staying at their
"Inn at Destiny Ridge Vineyards"
next year during "Washington Wine Board 2005."
That and the new winery on the river should be done in plenty of time for our weekend.

Kat, would that mean we would be flying in and out of Portland, OR; rather than a Washington flyport?

IK -- actually the drive from Portland to Prosser, WA would be no shorter than flying into Seattle and going across on I-90/I-84. The drive from Portland would be more scenic however.

CCK -- never heard of, much less tasted Alexandria Nicole wines. Where is the press releases and wine samples? Get with it young lady!

As Bucko mentioned Portland is the exact same distance to Prosser as Seattle to Prosser. It is however, about thirty minutes closer from Portland to Destiny Ridge. Depends on where we are that first night. Guessing we would meet up in town, Ridge may not hold us all. But the “Red Barn” will!!! The new winery should be open by then and they will have transport back to the inn. (Will find out size of Inn later this week.)
The drive from Portland to Prosser is much more scenic.

This said everyone coming will also have the option of flying into Tri-Cities or Yakima-- will need to pick one or the other at some point this year, I will do the research first. Then I/someone will do pick-up. I will have transportation set up by next spring for the daily travel to our selected wineries/vineyards (man THIS is pre-planning) so we do not need to have a line of rental cars driving in procession…
More importantly though, everyone can really, really enjoy all the wines this way! (Or folks can drive, up to ya all.)

If anyone flies into Seattle and has a day or two there, I can set up several visits to wineries in Woodinville and make killer dinner plans for you. From Portland you’d be passing right by the wineries of some of my dearest friends, so a stop “in” would be a must!
Tons of options at this point.

Sounds like a great pre-planning effort.
It would be nice to be able to drink plentifully and not worry about the drive back to the inn or hotel (or running down an Amish horse and carriage).

None of us even came close to one of those buggies. Though one time (on the way to Foodie's?), that girl coming out of the side street seemed intent on taking out one of us. Don't those people know you don't mess with a convoy.
