Don't drink while reading the wine board posts! I'm typing this very quickly because I just managed to knock what remained of a glass of port (about a tablespoon) into the keyboard! I figure in about five minutes the keys will all stick fast and so end communications for awhile. Either that or I'll have some interesting spellings with omitted letters! Kind of like playing Wheel of Fortune, dontcha know. What a dope I am!

Georgie, grab your keyboard and go straight to the shower. Let the water flow directly onto it, and into the keys. When you come out, shake it real well to get as much of the water out of it as possible, then use your hairdryer on it. When you can no longer shake any droplets out of it, plug it back in and give it a try. (It's best if you can lay it aside for a few days to dry more thoroughly, but you'll be offline unless you have a spare.)

Really? It won't ruin it or electrocute me?

OK...I was afraid to really douse it, but I ran a little bit of water in the affected areas and removed the keys to dry around them with a q-tip. eeeyuu, what a lot of crud under there! I think I found Jimmy Hoffa...seems to be working ok so far. Thanks!

No, it won't electrocute you. Just remove as much water as you can.

The shower works well for cleaning out soft drink residue, too, if you ever happen to spill one of those on your keyboard.

Jimmy H. is probably grateful to finally be located.

The important thing is..... first, get naked. Then shower with your keyboard. It doesn't work nearly as well if you cheat, and simply hold the keyboard under the shower head.

Hotwine herds his cattle in the nude, so you can imagine what he does with his computer...... ahem.

Georgie, be glad you didn't do it to a laptop--I did. The keyboard is connected to the rest of the innards; no help when hair drying or taking a shower with Hotwine, which I hope you did not do!

Cost me an extra $150 for that drink.

Whew. It sure got hot in here! Need to go sit in the cellar for a while.

We had a little thunder-boomer last night, just enough to scramble the cable modem and WiFi hub. Nothing like the lightning strike on the nearby transformer last summer that fried the modem. Did a cold reboot on everything and we bounced right back.

scrambled, fried modem and cold reboot? What wine did you serve with that meal?

Oh, I'd say a big-ast shiraz. But I am of the opinion that would go with just about anything.

That wasn't much of a challenge, Georgie. Grabbed whatever was available. Single malt would have probably worked best, though.
