Check some of the past postings on chocolate and wine in the Wine and Food Affinity forum. You will find what you seek.

As for strawberries: my wife likes to drop a strawberry in her glass of Champagne. It's a nice match.

The sweet Banyuls would not only be a better choice with the chocolate than the (almost always) dry merlot; but it may also be the sweet red you are looking for.

For Breakfast: 3 ounces Champagne, 3 ounces Orange Juice (fresh is best) and a dash of Grande Marnier with a strawberry afixed to the rim of the flute, this drink is called a Mimosa. (Don't use your best Champagne, but don't use drek either.)

For chocolate I think IK has hit the nail on the head, he's right-on.

I would second Foodie's idea for Champagne with strawberries; that's the only wine that comes to mind. It's not my taste, but the ladies seem to go for it.
(I don't want anything getting in the way of the wine.)
