A friend of mine just informed me that once you open a bottle of porto we must drink it within the next couple of days otherwise it will dramaticly loose its flavor. I've drank porto before and kept the bottle once open for weeks at times and never really found a huge difference in taste !

Hey Dubden. Welcome to the board. Your friend is an example of the old saw " a lil' knowledge is a dangerous thing". He/She probably doesn't know the difference between wine and Port. It'll keep for a week plus opened in the fridge. You be rite. WW

It depends on the type of Port. A vintage Port will last a week or so if kept cool. A Tawny Port will keep for several weeks, even at room temp.

The point is: once opened, no Port lasts more than a couple of weeks, and then only if stored properly.
