What would be the BEST wine to give someone for his birthday?

Depends on the birthday guy's preferences. Does he like reds or whites? Cabernet Sauvignon, or Pinot Noir? California wines or European or Australian and New Zealand? Powerful wines with high alcoholic content and some noticeable tannins or softer, mellower wines? Really can't give you an answer without more knowledge of his preferences.
