Dining out recently and decided on having a red wine. Haven't had much luck with merlots so looking at the wine list saw a Pinot Nir and took a chance. Loved it. I don't remember the maker or anything about it other than the description: medium bodied, sweet, fruit flavors. I'd like to buy something similar to that description. Any suggestions?

You might try a Saintsbury Garnet Pinor Noir or a Byron Pinot Noir from California or the Argyle Pinot Noir from Oregon. At the grocery store (if grocery stores sell wine in your state) you could probably find the Byron or a Villa Mt. Eden Pinot Noir and possibly the others.

Welcome to the board, Lili. Since the taste of a given wine can vary, depending on the food with which it's paired, give us a clue about the food you had with that wine. We can then have a better chance of recommending a Pinot Noir to match with it.

Thanks for replying and the suggestions. Everyone at the dinner was having steak, some had filet mignon (sp?). I had a Sirloin steak. Everyone agreed that it was a good wine.

Hmm, for a slightly sweet Pinot Noir that would go with steak.... try a Kenwood from the Russian River Valley. I happened to pair one last night with a pot roast, for which I'd prepared a slightly sweet wine & mushroom reduction, with the sweetness provided by a tad - maybe 1/4 cup - of maple syrup. Very nice. Picked up a case of the Kenwood at Costco today at about $10 per.
