While in France in '94 I, being a complete novice, bought a bottle in Aix-en-Provence because it was a red with a nice label. Here is what it says:

Domaine Les Bastides
Cuvee Speciale 1989

Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Proprietor Jean Salen

Les Bastides - 13610 Puy Ste. Reparade

That's about all the info that's left, hope that helps.

Did some more digging and got an answer for you:

Domaine Les Bastides, Bandol, owned by Jean Salen, who left the local cooperative to open his own winery in 1976. The close knit family strives for top quality from their Northern facing vineyards. He uses Cabernet in place of Syrah in his red blend, stating that Syrah is too vinous for him. He prefers concentrated wines with ageability.
