Wineowinne,
you live here in this area, could you recommend a good wine store? I want to pick up some bubbly to celebrate, but don't know where to go to get a good choice at a good price.

Also, what would be a good bubbly? Something sweet, not dry, at at a decent price, no more than $20. Thanks

Bubbly is not my area of expertise (if I have an area of expertise which is questionable). The only wine shop per se in Fayetteville is Bob's wine shop on Raeford Road not far from Harris-Teeter grocery store. Grocery stores also sell wine and Harris-Teeter and Winn-Dixie have pretty wide selections. Your daughter and son-in-law probably have Class VI privileges on post but that may not get you in to make a purchase.
Most of these may cost $30-$40. Class VI would avoid the taxes if you gave money to your son-in-law to make the purchase.
Some past recommendations from the Champagne and sparklers thread:
Non-vintage (NV) Chandon Rose Sparkling Wine (I have had and liked this one and it is not too dry in taste) (California)
Egly-Ouriet Rose
Billicart-Salmon Rose (this sounds like one I would like and you might like)
Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noir (California)

These are mostly blends of pinot noir and chardonnay grapes--I like the pinot noir addition but if you prefer from white grapes only, then don't go for the rose sparklers

Hi Curious. In case you were adressing Moi' (Winoweenie) you're geography needs updating. Phoenix, Az 'haint very close to Ohio, Mich, Ind, or Ill. My area of expertise lies mainly in Reds. I Drink bubbly 4-6 times a year and seek advice me-very-own-self. WW

okay guys, so I can't keep names straight as to which poster it goes with, at least I didn't call call him a she. Of course, on here, it can be a guessing game as to the gender of each poster <BG>.

Sorry for the confusion, but at least it seem to have given you all a chance to have some fun. Glad of that, so long as I didn't insult anyone.

As for son-in-law being able to buy, he is only 20, so he can't purchase alcohol, so it will have to be me at a local store.
I will look for what has been suggested.

On a sad note, he just got the news last night that he will be shipping out at the end of the month, they won't tell him where he is going, will be anounced on the plane.
