I have a friend getting married this year and I wanted to get a bottle of Dom Perignon as a wedding gift that was bottled the month and year he met his wife-to-be (September 1995). Not knowing much about wines, I would think that wineries bottle around the same time every year based on crop maturity, but I don't know. So, my questions are these:
1. Does a bottle of Dom Perignon bottled September 1995 exist?
2. If so, what do I do/where do I go to find one?
3. How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance to any of you who reply and I hope if I've spoken in a particularly "newbie" manner, you didn't laugh too hard! *;^)

Oh, so they're held at the Moet Chandon for 7-8 years before released to market? Is there anyway to get one from the winery before public release to be stored until it's good enough to consume? (as I'm assuming this is the logic behind delayed market release)

Schleppo, Welcome to the board! That would be a big n-o. (& the hold time varies.)
