A co-worker, helping a woman empty a cellar, found a bottle of Napa Sun 1980 Cabernet. We can't find if the winery still exists. We're trying to determine if the contents are any good. There doesn't appear to be any residue in the bottle. Does anyone know?

Welcome bsoder.

I've had Sunny St Helena from Napa, but not Sun plain and simple. Hopefully members of the Board closer to this wine's home will be of more help, but as for what it's like? Not good, I suspect. Some top Napa Cabernets of this age are still going strong, but the chances are that an obscure brew such as would have been over the hill long ago. Still, no harm in pulling the cork and having a sniff .....

Cheers
Tom

Welcome to the board bsoder. What Tom said is probably the case. I`ve never heard of Napa Sun or anything close, so my guess is this was some kind of negotiant bottling that probably wasn`t too good when it was bottled. Open that sucker and find out. It Has NO monetary value. winoweenie

Tom,
That was all I found. Just a name, address and phone number. I can't find anything listed anywhere about any of their wines. They may now be just a registered name with an address but no product.
BTW, in my last post, I should have said "The wine probably has no value now...".

To satisfy everyone's curiosity: We opened the wine. Add some good oil and it would make a fairly decent salad dressing. This one was past her prime.
