Would anyone know the worth of a 1949 Chateau Haut-Brion, Premier Grand Cru Classe?

No, can't help you there....... However, 1949 is my birth year and my birthday is right around the corner (this weekend).....

I've been looking for a birthday present....

On the more serious side, here are some tasting notes gleaned from Wine Spectator:

FIRST NOTE:
1949 Chateau Haute-Brion Graves - Value of bottle tasted in 1991 $550.00, 91 Points from Wine Spectator

Tasting notes from 11/15/91:
A rather angular and fine wine; very classy, Ruby in the center, with a brick-red edge; perfumed black cherry aromas; full-bodied, with full tannins and a firm structure, yet plenty of cherry flavor.--Haut-Brion vertical.

SECOND NOTE:
1949 Chateau Haute-Brion Graves - Value of bottle tasted in 1997 $336.00, 78 Points from Wine Spectator

Tasting notes from 04/30/97:
Earthy, smoky, burnt flavors mark this as a poor bottle.--Haut-Brion vertical.

Others on this board, far more knowledgable than I, have suggested that trying to sell a single bottle of an old, fine wine can be difficult at best. Maybe you will get a reply from one of them.

If your wine has been properly cellared all these years, you might want to think about drinking it yourself. (I'd have a back-up bottle of another good wine on hand, just-in-case.)
