Hey guys, I'm looking for a tastey Sauternes for the wife. She likes her wines extremely fruity and sweet. I'm thinking that a Sauternes would be the choice for her.

Anything nice out there that won't break the bank? As always, thanks my friends.

These don't come cheap, but I have liked the Sudiraut in the past (nutty flavor) and it is cheaper than Chateau d'Yquem (spellling?) At the Nantucket Wine Festival in May I liked a Chateau de Cosse Sauternes (a second label from Rothschild) that retails for about $40 a bottle, which would make it a "special occasion" wine in my book.

Forgot to mention that sometimes you can find (or order) half bottles of sauternes which also helps price-wise.

Foodie sells a very nice one called Loupiac Du Cros 1997 Bordeaux at $29 for a 750ml bottle. It's yummy and comes from a district next door to Sauternes.

I posted on the Maison Nicolas Sauternes back in Jan. of this year (http://www.wines.com/ubb2/Forum37/HTML/001413.html) If you can find their half-bottles, your wife could try one at the very attractive price of only $9.99.
