Ive recently aquired a 1986 bottle of Paul Dugenais Mersault, and I was wondering wether it should be opened sooner rather than later?

I know a good red may mature with age and develop depth and balance, but does the same happen with good white ?

Certainly, high quality Meursault has been known to age quite wonderfully for up to ten or so years. But I'm afraid you have something that pushing it insofar as age. Most likely your wine is far beyond its best years.
