I saw one article that said that while there are some Brazilian wines, most citizens of that country consume more Argentinian and Chilean wines than those from Brazil.

Oì, Karen! Onde esta VC no Brasil? Se VC mora em Rio, São Paolo, Belo, Brasilia, Curitiba, Porto Alegre ou um outra cidade grande, VC pode visitar uma loja dos vinhos e eles vão mostrar os vinhos brasileiros pra VC. Um rótulo que eu gostei muito é Miolo Reserva Tinto.

For the rest of your louts: There is a lot of good wine in Brasil, mostly whites but some new and promising reds and the FRENCH think that an area near the Uruguaian border may be THE place for quality sparkling wine production in the southern Hemisphere. BUT, the climate and cuisine of most of the country lends itself more to beer and things like Prosecco and Vinho Verde.
