Help, please! I am expecting a guest who loves wines. He has mentionned enjoying wines without meals. I want to stock the pantry. QUESTION: Would merlot be a good drink to have without a meal. Also, what would be another good choice. THANKS!!!

Danne, welcome to the board. Most Merlot needs to accompany food, but look for Blackstone, about $10, for one to enjoy as a quaffer.

Danne, do you know what type of wines your guest enjoys eg. Cabernet,Merlot,Zinfandal,Syrah/Siraz,Chardonnay, etc.? We'll be able to make better recommendations of specific wines.
