We are having some people over tomorrow night for a prime rib dinner. What would be a good wine for this occasion?

In general, a dry California red like Cabernet Sauvignon or French Bordeaux or anything along those lines form any region.

With Prime rib I like a full bodied Pinot Noir like Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard, David Bruce, Gary Farrell or Byron Reserve.

Or perhaps a Syrah or Shiraz (same grape): Columbia Winery "Red Willow" Syrah at around $25..1995,6, or 7...all killer.

Geyser Peak Shiraz or Reserve Shiraz...any vintage...or for a bargain (about $10) Forest Glen.

Rosemount from Australia is a another value producer.
