First post of what will prove to be many. I've been a person who has tried to experience all that the world has to offer and am just now getting into wines. What would you be a well rounded "starter" selection of 10 - 12 wines under $50.00/ bottle? I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, so if someone could point me to a previous thread, I'd be happy to start reading.

Thanks for the info Georgie. I've read the post you suggested and will start my search. Looks like this new hobby of mine will likely keep me busy for the remainder of my life...now that's a job I'm looking forward to.

This may not be as easy as I first thought. Since I live in Ontario I have searched the LCBO's website for some of the wines suggested. NOT AVAILABLE was waht I read mostly. Where in Michigan can I go to find a larger selection?

There are some Canadians and probably some Michiganites on this board who can steer you in the right direction. You can also establish a relationship with a local merchant who can give you good recommendations.

There's always something new to learn; something new to taste. I am very much a newbie myself, and have found the experts on this board to be wonderful sources of information and recommendations. You'll enjoy your journey.
