I have three different meals that I am trying to decide what to pair with...

1)meatball calzones
2)chicken piccata
3)taco soup

1. Chianti (a simple one)
2. Chardonnay that has been maled
3. A light Zinfandel or Shiraz

I agree with Innkeeper, but I would also try the following:

1. shiraz
2. chardonnay -- but depending on your ingredients, you could try a pinot noir
3. definitely a zinfandel

Cheers!

I would follow Innkeepers lead here with "light zin or shiraz". Watch the alcohol level. If you get a monster zin with high alcohol it will increase the heat of the dish and might make some uncomfortable.

A lower alcohol Zin or Shiraz will work better. I say this because I'm one of the wimps out there when it comes to heat in food! LOL!
