I was doing some tasting this weekend and tried a Melbec that I thought was very interesting. I also bought 2 bottles of it for further study. I forget which one off the top of my head.... anyway, I'd like to read some postings on different wines but am not sure which category I should look in. Which category do I look?

Thanks.

Malbec wines would be in the "Wines without a category" thread. Catena is the producer of one of the few Malbecs I've tasted.

Try Gascon Malbec, it is well worth the high price of $10.00. Robert Parker gave the 2006 a 90 rating. I have had both 05 and 06, and they were very tasty juice. Enjoy

Then there's the poor man's Bordeaux, a Cahors from the south of France. (OK maybe an oversimplification). Best kept secret.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try. Always fun to drift into unfamiliar waters (or juices as the case may be).

A favorite of mine - Laurel Glen turns out some great malbec at a good price. Look for his 2004 Terra Rosa.

I checked my bottle at home, and what I bought was Ben Marco Malbec 2005, $17. They were sampling the 2006, but also had the 2005 in stock. It was a new and exciting wine for me. The guy at the store suggested the '05 since it was already aged the extra year and was at the same price. Now I just have to pick a time to open one.
