I am purchasing wines for our wedding next summer and I would like some suggestions for chardonay, or white table wines I already have 2 cases of reisling I have stored in my basement up right at 50-60 degree range and some 1.5l bottles of merlot & cabernet sauv. Is this the best way to store and will it keep for one year.

Cathy, the temperature is great, but I would recommend that you lay them on their sides, to make sure the corks remain moist, there by preventing air from entering the bottles and ruining the wines.

Most commercial quality wines will certainly keep for one year, especially with your ideal temperature range of storage. A few may even improve.

If you're looking for value...check out the Mead On Wine archives at www.wines.com

It's my weekly newsletter and I do emphasize a lot of value wines...which can come in handy when planning for a big event.
