Welcome to the board, Bau. Go to your favorite wine/liquor shop and ask for Mosel-Sahr-Ruwer Kabinett (a German Riesling of the Kabinett grade from the MSR region). You should find them available in a range of $4-$40 per bottle; buy the $10-$12 one, and get enough to provide one bottle for each couple in attendance at the party. Serve it well-chilled with dinner.

If you or others prefer a red wine, go with pinot noir. Villa Mt Eden form California or Joseph Drouhin LaForet from Burgundy are both excellent and in the $10 - 12 range.

Pork and Sauerkraut is a tradition for me on New Years Day, and Rieslings are always in attendance at my house since I discovered them! It's nice to know that the two will go together nicely. This is a great chance for my mum to learn the beauty of Rieslings!
