Combination meals

I will taking a date this weekend for a nice dinner at a Jazz/Steak place in Minneapolis (Rossi's). Usually when we go out together we order 2 things and share them both rather than each have separate meals. What sort of wine reccomendation would you have if the combination was sirloin steak and rotiserie chicken with mashed potatos and vegetable?

My own bias on favorites (not taking into accound the meal) are pinot noir red zin.

There will likely be some sort of chocolate cake/ice cream desert afterwards as we are celebrating her birthday.

Pinot noir I think would be a wonderful choice.

Agree with tw. You might check and see if they have half bottles. Then you have red and she could have white.

a merlot or sangiovese might work ok also, although its all about what you like to drink, does the wife drink reds?

Wife?! Woa, lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Its just a birthday dinner, not a wedding, no matter how much mom would like to see me get married [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/smile.gif[/img]

Anyway, the only time I've seen her drink a white was when she took a sip off of mine. She did like the pinot noir I opened at my place a few months back, so that may be the choice.

They have Mark West at $8 a glass and Cambria Estate Santa Maria at $25 a bottle. From there the price jumps beyond where I want to spend. I saw TNs on Mark West in the PN/Burgandy board. Any comments on the Cambria Estate?

I do see I get 3 glasses of Mark West for the same price as the whole bottle of Cambria. But price is not everything. If I get the Cambria I know it has not been open too long because I am buying by the bottle, not glass. So unless you reccomend the Mark West over the Cambria, that looks like my best option.

I think I actually prefer the Mark West to the Cambria but you might ask if you could have a sip of both to compare before ordering.
