Has anyone ever had Retsina of Attica bottled by Kourtakis wines?
I have fouhnd it to be a good intriguing tasting wine.

I have also heard that Erythros Dry red is also good but I cannot find it anywhere here.

Any other good Greek Wines I should know of?

Well Rink we meet agin'. I've never had a retsined wine that I tought was drinkable. I would personally rather drink paint remover, which by-the-by it reminds me of. WW

Just noticed where you be from Rink-i-poo. Why in the Be-Jabbers living in Wash with a now abundance of great red wines of all varieties would you want to experiement with shellac? Try a new red from Wash every time you hanker for some juice. You'll die happy and with the task unfinished. WW

Some friends took me to a dinner at a Greek restaurant a few years back and all they had were Greek wines. You'd think that with all the centuries and centuries of winemaking, predating even the French, you'd think Greece could do a bit better. I wasn't impressed then, and I haven't been on the few occasions I've tried Greek wines since then.

The "Gallo" of Greece is an outfit called Boutari. I have never had a bad wine from them, although have not bought or ordered the Restina. Their Santorini's, both white and red are wonderful. An easier one to find is Naoussa. All their wines are very inexpensive. You should be able to find them in any of the major metropolitan wine stores in the State of Washington. Any reputable Greek Restaurant will serve them too.

We enjoyed Boutari's Lac des Roches on a Greek cruise ship in '93 (the trip was down the Inside Passage from Alaska to Vancouver). A nice wine with seafood and Greek salad. Still have one bottle that has probably long since turned up its toes.

I like a slightly sweet white wine call Saint Panteleimon from Cyprus. First had it at a Greek-owned restaurant but it is carried in a local supermarket. I also like light-bodied red wines from Rhodes that I have tasted in Greece or in Greek restaurants. Retsina must be an acquired taste that I have not acquired. I agree with WW on that.

Don't know if it is still produced but a wine called Pallini that was produced near Athens was spectacular--white.

We just took in a wine from the Pelopponese(sp) Mantinea--white too. It is clean, crisp and mineral-like. Great.

As for Retsina, since it is pine resin it actually is similar to paint thinner. I once lost a complete undigetsed dinner, thanks to Retsina.
