2005 Hills Beaujolais ($8.99 Whole Foods). Alcohol level: 12.5%. Hard to believe this was a “plain ole” Beaujolais, as it was comparable to most Villages we’ve had.

It gave black cherries and blueberries on the nose and upfront. It had very nice complexity in the middle with a touch of minerality; and a pleasant finish.

Matched it with burgers grilled over charcoal and oak chips, and a salad with blue cheese dressing. Very nice! It is highly recommended as a summer hamburger wine.
