Darker color than I expected. Cranberry red with a pretty pink rim.

A very pleasant, but subtle nose of of blackberries, cherry, violets, and game. Medium bodied and rich, with flavors of black cherry. This wine is mouthfilling without being at all heavy. Finishes clean, with a hint of acidity.

I hate to say this, but I taste a pleasant aftertaste of grape juice, in a good way. This is one of those wines that reminds me that wine is made from grapes.

$15 a bottle, 12.5% alc

Paired nicely with a white pizza topped with bacon and roasted tomatoes. I'll happily drink this again. Fuller bodied than I am accustomed to for a Beaujolais.

I haven't had the one you tried but really like Brouilly from Domaine de la Chaize.

Most wine tastes like grape juice to me too. I wonder why that is?

I mentioned that because the finish was especially grapey.
