Part of the bounty from D's last trip to Houston, at Father's Day.... had placed an order for a box at Spec's, which they held for her. Popped the first tonight with herbed chicken, mashers, green beans and cole slaw.

As expected, very pale in the glass with a subtle nose... can detect slight grapefruit, but nothing like that of a NZ SB. A bit of green grass, but not the CA style of dominant grassiness.... subtelty is the word here. A touch of petro, too, almost like a Mosel. Clean and crisp on the palate, lip-smacking long finish for an SB. Gorgeous, a benchmark Sancerre in my book! 12.5% alc/vol and about $18.50 by the box. The bottle is 'way too danged small!

I had to go to Spec's after reading your review, and I am sipping the Rossignole at this very moment. Very nice, I agree with everything you said. I seem to detect a touch of dairy at the end (although still very dry), but that may actually be the petro bit, I've heard of petro but I don't really have experience recognizing it. Very good sancerre.

Glad you're enjoying it. Suspect it will improve over the next 3-4 in cellar if I can lay off of it that long.

Pulled one tonight to accompany Asian stir-fried chicken. Still holding very well, no change in TN. Assigned her a mission of getting another box or two on her next trip to Houston, maybe in a month or so.
